We are often influenced by what fashion dictates, even in the permanent makeup field. Clients come in often requesting thicker eyeliner using fashion colors and bigger hairstrokes or micro bladed Eyebrows. Photos of people we see on the Internet and television are often enhanced so it is hard to know what is real or not. There have been many advancements in the field of plastic surgery and permanent make up in the last decade that make more of these options available. Today people are making more personal choices to change or improve their appearances based upon cultural and fashion trends. If there is a feature we want to improve or wish to change, then we may do so based upon personal taste and usually what we can afford. You may agree that some cosmetic trends are “Over the Top”, but the bigger is better notion seems to be the fashion today. Current trends dictate the fuller eyebrow and thicker eyeliner. Women are opting to wear false eyelashes and lash extensions in order to fulfill this popular trend. You have to consider that the wonderful tail or wing you are requesting for permanent eyeliner at 20 years of age is going to wind up in the wrong place later on in life. A good permanent makeup technician understands that implanting color in some areas may cause a migration of the color. There are also different kinds of pigments available to consider. Cosmetic Black Oxides may incorporate warm tones in order to create a more plausible black. If carbon based blacks are utilized, this will increase the tendency of black eyeliner looking blue in the thinner eyelid skin. These are choices that should be discussed during the consultation and prior to any procedure appointment. When making decisions about what we like with permanent cosmetic procedures, education and technical skill play a bigger part in results we are after. This is the same for any cosmetic procedure. In the beginning, permanent makeup was intended to enhance or improve natural features in a way that was more conservative. Well, with the new trend of large eyelashes, is it any wonder that some prospects are looking for the bigger, more obvious eyeliner. Most permanent eyeliner procedures involve implanting pigment in the upper and lower lash line area and following the wider row of lashes temporally as it diminishes towards the nasal area. Larger eyeliners may be accomplished, however, it is generally more invasive, time consuming and risky. Often times, problems begin when consumers who are uneducated about the risks wind up purchasing a coupon offer on the Internet. These, in most cases do not include the necessary follow-ups to finish the procedure or a consultation prior to the actual procedure. A good technician will begin by scheduling a consultation that includes a history, examination of the treatment area and an evaluation the skin. Not everyone looks good with a bigger eyebrow. You must consider facial shape, age, physiology and morphology. Starting with a consultation is always the best advice.
